Oak House Residential Care Home
Established in 1989 by Don and Carolyn Walker with just a handful of residents initially, Oak House is a residential care home now registered for 25 frail elderly people.
Their aim was to create a home from home atmosphere offering the highest levels of care to the elderly whilst maintaining residents’ independence within their own limitations.
Although much modernised, the original part of this historic building dates back to the 18th century and is built from local Clipsham stone.
Outside, there is a wonderful purpose built garden designed with the sensory and mobility impaired in mind.
Now owned by Don and Carolyns’ four sons, Oak House is headed up full time by Managing Director Preston Walker, an experienced chef with particular expertise in nutrition for the elderly.
A staff of around 30 from the local area maintain a 24 hour caring environment under Care Manager Debbie Dalby and Office Manager Linda Ellis. The majority of the team have worked at Oak House for many years.
